Constitution + Comics Camp
June 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join Meg Mott, Constitutional Scholar and Marek Bennett, Comics Artist for Constituion + Comics Camp teaching teens how to use governing documents to understand their own place in political discourse. A central goal of the camp is to develop capacities to explain arguments even if we don’t endorse them. We’ll tackle tough topics including; Are hate speech codes a violation of the First Amendment? Is misinformation actionable? What privacy rights do students have inside of school?
Bennett will lead the campers in using graphic novels as inspiration to create their own comics that get at the complexity of living in the grey area of being an American but also a student, an identity that allows for both increased and decreased freedoms.
Free and open to all teens at the Putney Library June, 27 – July 1, 10 am – 1 pm.
